Driving the green transition

Driving the green transition

With energy needs increasing daily, climate protection remains at the core of Kelag International’s development.

To us, green business practices are not merely an added value but the cornerstone of our operations. For almost two decades, we have been intensively investing in green technologies and providing electricity from renewable sources.

We are constantly seeking energy solutions that drive our transition to a low-carbon company and striving to produce clean energy from environmentally friendly sources — water, wind, and sun. Operating sustainably and contributing to a cleaner, more efficient energy supply will always be our mission.

Promoting environmentally friendly solutions

Preserving our environment and nature is important to us. We strive to positively impact climate change, which poses a growing threat to local communities and society. We believe every action counts. That is why we use electric vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions and encourage our employees to walk or cycle, which are even more sustainable solutions for the environment. In addition, we encourage our employees from all around Europe to travel by train, reducing CO2 emissions and other negative impacts of transportation.

Sustainable procurement

Kelag’s EcoVadis rating reflects our dedication to transparency in reporting and continuous improvement in sustainable practices, ensuring that we operate with integrity and a deep respect for our planet and its resources.

Partnerships for a green future

During the pandemic and economic crisis, we joined the National Alliance for Green Recovery, which encourages innovation, development, and the implementation of green technological solutions across all sectors. Kelag International Ljubljana is also a partner of the Centre for Energy Efficient Solutions (CER), where we promote green technologies and contribute to the development of the green economy.

Growing investments in renewable energy sources

With a clear long-term strategy, we aim to reach 818 MW of installed capacity in operation by 2035 and generate 1,694 GWh of renewable electricity annually.

Waste separation and protecting the environment

Waste management is an integral part of our daily lives and reflects the environmental awareness of our employees, who embody our green values. We separate waste under regulations and legislation, and by obtaining the Tap Water Certificate, we have committed to serving and using drinking tap water instead of bottled water on our premises.
