Hydro

Hydropower as one of the oldest renewable sources

Throughout history, it has been utilized as a reliable and sustainable means of generating power. At Kelag International, we have made our first steps in renewable energy production with hydropower systems.

Our focus is on buying or partnering with already operating hydro plants and providing energy management services (PPA) to provide access to wholesale energy markets and reduce uncertainties.

Our competences

  • More than 15 years of experience with hydropower systems.
  • Partnering with project owners, developers, and municipalities on hydropower projects, with financial and energy management (PPA) support.
  • Developing and building wind projects with long-term perspective.
  • Present in 14 markets in Iberian, Mediterranean and SEE region.

HPP Novakovići

Technology: Hydropower Plant
Location: Bosnia & Hercegovina
Peak capacity: 5,77 MW
Status: in operation

Hydropower Plant Novakovići is one of the best examples of Interenergo’s strategy of investments into hydro technology in the 2010’s. It is built on the Ugar River and uses vast internal know-how, gathered within the Group in the past 100 years, and has been producing green energy for more than 10 years already.

HPP Medna

Technology: Hydropower Plant
Location: Bosnia & Hercegovina
Peak capacity: 4,90 MW
Status: in operation

Hydropower Plant Medna helped us expand our investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina by implementing Kaplan technology. It is located on the Sana River and, due to ecological limitations, proved to be quite a challenge with one of the longest derivation tunnels in our portfolio. This project enabled the preservation of local ecology combined with electricity production.
